Sound Off: What projects and remodeling work can help add value to a home?

There are four high impact improvements that can help potential buyers envision themselves in your home. These changes are fairly inexpensive and they will make your home look great in person, online and in photos.

Paint: Painting is the single most transformative change that you can make to a home. Choose light colors that will photograph well and brighten the property. Neutral colors appeal to the broadest range of buyers.

Floors: Most buyers prefer hardwood floors for aesthetic and/or health reasons. If you have wood floors, pull up any wall-to-wall carpet, refinish them and show them off! If you don’t have hardwood floors, at least replace the old carpet.

Light: Install new light fixtures using bright bulbs to make your home feel warm, welcoming and well maintained.

Outdoor Space: If you have a garden, plant colorful flowers and bushes, lay down fresh mulch and install outdoor seating. On the balcony, add potted plants, flowers and a bench.

An experienced agent can advise you on the small changes that will increase the value of your investment many times over.
